Council Oak Books, after two decades in the rapidly changing publishing industry, is one of the few remaining truly independent book publishers in the United States. We acquire, produce, market, warehouse and distribute our own books from our home base in Tulsa, Oklahoma, and sell subsidiary and translation rights across the world.
Known for editorial quality and award-winning book design, we also co-publish with nonprofit institutions such as the Smithsonian’s National Museum of the American Indian and the Nature Conservancy.
Established as an alternative to the east-coast-dominated publishing industry, Council Oak has been presenting books for the emerging wisdom culture since 1985. Subject areas for which we are best known include Native American and indigenous spirituality; nature, animals, and wildlife; inclusive Christianity; new thought and alternative health.
